What to try if you have a strange problem with the N96

N96 user, jonbaker to the rescue, posted from the forum:
In most cases the following should fix any issues you are having with the N96. Firstly you must get the latest firmware, if the firmware isn’t available for your product code then change it using the guide on this forum (this will invalidate the Nokia warranty though)
If you have the latest firmware then try this:
1. Format mass memory (back up your files first because you will lose them)
2. Format the phone memory (hard reset) again backup your files
3. If the above didn’t fix it, re-install the firmware.
4. Still no fix? Take it back, it is knackered!… probably
From personal experience a mass memory format sorted out my phones problem of not refreshing the music library and not being able to delete music. My wife’s phone wouldn’t light up most of the time and the formatting wouldn’t fix that so we went with option 4 and got a new one, problem solved!

Hi..i have problems in my n96 phone. the light doesnt light up when it is slided up or what.. i just bought it ydae. is it a problem or must i set the power saver or light saver setting or something like that?

The light setting is doing nothing! Try to Mass/Hard reset and then get it back and demand a new one…The only solution I have! ; ) Good luck

i have this nokia n96 and recently, its has been giving some problems, the recent issue am having is the menu, when the key is pressed, it doesn’t come up and also the contact and the messaging keys. I have not been able to view my messages with that and also all other aplications. Please, i will gladly appreciate if you reply me with a solution.

i bought one n96 3 month ago this made for vodafon i use it and this phone work properly but once when i want to open one pdf file it became stop i exit the battery and put it back when it on there is write phon start up failed contact to retailer but we give it to some repairing station but the cant make it if you know how can i make it

I have got 3 email accounts on my N96. I wanted to delete the oldest one, that is a POP3, but it will not get delete. I go through menu/messaging/options/emails and mark the one I want to delete and than I wait a little and nothing happens – the email account stays. I’ve tried with the other 2 accounts and it works fine – they get delete.
Can anybody help me on this problem. How can I delete this email account, that won’t get delete by the standard way.

a have 2 n96 phones, boths are failed to start. but when i switch on the phones manually vibrating done , but no any responce further. only navi weel light only. i was try to reinstall the softwares and no any good responce, but technician said boths information are 100% correct. pls help me
