How to update Nokia N96 software?

For those that aren’t aware of how to update the Nokia N96 firmware/software, Mark Guim has posted a vlog post on how to do it via the OTA (over-the-air) method. This method saves 97% of the size of the update, saving you money and time, as jonbaker explained in a forum post.

The latest version is v12.0.43, different from the v12.0.35 available from an “illegal” update. If it isn’t available for you, consider changing the product code, and if you don’t know how to, follow the guide how to change product codes, and choose from which Nokia N96 product codes you will use to update.

    i hv nokia N96
    and iam not able to send sms to New Zealand
    what may be the problem the provider is all good not problem with them

    My N96 is so slow, so giving non-understandible comments, so busy with itself, so not doing what I want to do with it. And now I am so bored with it.
    ie.In every menu n96 says: memory full. So it doesnot switch or suggest another memory-location, while there is an empty 10 Gb stick in it. That is stupid. So it is probably something else.How and what can i find out? I don’t want to findout things, i want to use my phone.I am so bored
    Also: why cann’t the device charge via usb? Again more wires.Again back in time!
