Nokia N96 App Review – Light Control

Name: Light Control v1.30
Description: Controls device keypad, screen and LED lights
Summary: Light Control does exactly what it says on the tin, controls lights! Designed for saving power and helping you find things in the dark!
I consider this a very handy application that allows you to control every aspect of your devices illuminations. The main functions include:
• Primary screen on & off
• Brightness
• Primary keyboard lights on & off
• Secondary keyboard lights on & off
• Light timeout
• Flashlight
I use this application frequently but mainly for the flashlight. The other functions are purely for power saving. The flashlight has 3 options:
• Use flash lamp (switches on the duel LED lights of the N96 to make a powerful torch)
• Switch on (turns the main screen into pure white light)
• SOS (gives an SOS signal using the main screen!)
Whilst this application comes highly recommended there are some improvements that could be made. Mainly, I would like to see a shortcut for accessing the flashlight. As it stands you have to launch the application, got to options, scroll to flashlight then select one of the 3 options.
The application must be running in the background for it to take effect and requires you to start it up when needed. Light control is free but does require signing.
Rating: 8/10
Enjoy!

You are getting that error because the application needs to be signed, as stated in the review.

We have guides on how to sign applications at the forum. We will link to those in future posts, if apps need signing.

I have that problem of the certificate error too. While I understand I need to sign the app, I don’t know how to do it… and I can’t find how to do it on the site… Meraj mentioned a possible link to it… any chance of putting that here or letting me know what it is!!? Thanks.

@Ashik That’s unfortunately normal. There’s no possibility to turn that light off at the moment. That could save even more energy, i hope also that it will be implemented i a later release.
For all the users you have that annoying flashing of the keyboard: You have to set a longer timeout for the light in the system than in light control, then that’s no longer occuring.. But beside that it’s a great app. Especially the possibility to dim the lights lower than in the system defaults is great also the possibility to turn off the light completely for example if you’re outside.

Nobody explains how to sign, and all the sites I have found, It seems very complicated to do it…
