screenshot0030Name: Adaptxt

Description: predictive text/general word tool

Summary: I’m going to start by advising you to get this application because it is brilliant. Last month I posted a application called “Quickwrite” which did what you wanted but only in its own sms application. Adaptxt predicts you text everywhere and of course the more you use certain words the higher up the list they become. That’s not all Adaptxt has up its sleeve it can also predict the next few words in the sentence and if that’s not enough it also enables little key shortcuts to smileys and to copy the last word. Another tool this has is that it can translate your written text into different languages but most of them cost a few quid.

Overall: Adaptxt appears to be beta version so its free, however you do have to register to download and I know myself that some people aren’t going to be bothered with that so ill post another link to download. If anything is wrong with this application it’s that it has too many uses that sometimes seem to get in the way when your trying to do certain things. Read more

Nokia N96 App Review – Speedy Go

screenshot0028

Name: Speedy Go

Description: System Utility

SummarySpeedy Go is an application that’s designed to speed up your display and overall performance of your Nokia N96Speedy Go is the first application developed by CellPhoneSoft for the symbian operating system normally they make applications for UIQ systemsSpeedy Go isn’t the first application to come along saying it can boost phone speed, it is however one of the first that I was able to notice a difference while it was running. Speedy Go can test your phone’s speed and then you can retest your phone with the  on and see what the difference is.

Overview: Speedy Go isn’t free but it does have a trial so see what you think of that. It’s impossible to say if this speeds up your phone, maybe it just uses the placebo effect, what ever it does the phone does seem to act a bit sharper. On my phone the test first archived a result of 350 and after running the speed boost I tested it again and got a result of 400 so that’s a boost of 50, 50 what is the question. Read more

Nokia N96 App Review – LowCaller

screenshot0022

Name: LowCaller

Description: Voip Utiliser

Summary: Voip or Voice Over Internet Protocol is quite self explanatory but it is basically the same as skype. Making cheap international calls isn’t the most uncommon thing but sometimes it can be a bit tricky to setup and make work. LowCaller is an application for the Nokia N96 that makes all of this easy, LowCaller will start automatically and run in the background and when you make a call it can either route your call through a local number in your country or use an voip account from many existing suppliers.

Overview: If you know anything about voip you will know you don’t actually need this application there’s just a few settings that you have to sort out. This is more to help people who are having problems using voip then this is a good application to try to see if it helps you work the system. LowCaller is a free application so if your thinking about using voip or just what a little help to get it working try this. Read more

screenshot0019Name: Virtual Mobile

Description: Automatic Memory Backup

Summary: The Nokia N96 doesn’t have the best reliability and even if you haven’t had a single problem sometimes it’s just peace of mind to keep backups. There’s nothing wrong with backing up your Nokia N96 when ever you connect it to your Pc but its not perfect because what if your away from your home or latest backup doesn’t have your most recent dataVirtual Mobile is different it is based online and will back up when ever you want at the press of a button. That’s not all Virtual Mobile has to offer you can also use features like texting, adding contacts and making appointments in your calendar from your PC. Really Virtual Mobile is the nokia PC suite that’s online and much easier to sync.

Overview: By all means this application is insane its a really good idea and the application will tell you when things change after your last sync. At the moment the product is still in beta testing but its quite easy to join but I think when the full version is released it will probable need a monthly subscription. Check Virtual Mobile out because if has lots of advantages. To become a beta tester you will have to register at Virtual Mobile and follow a few simple steps to download the application. Read more

Nokia N96 Theme Review – Scenery

Name: Scenery

Creator: fishy8380

Summary: It’s time again for another Theme change for the N96 I think but I have a bit of a different reason which I’ll explain later. The last theme I posted “Leopard” had one problem and that was the colour of the text was white and using the phone every now and again you would come across a message where you can’t see the text. Scenery doesn’t have this problem what it does have is a seriously bright, clean and clear wallpaper with nice contrasting colours that really make folders and text stand out. The thing with this Theme is that it doesn’t have any custom icons so you can tell it’s not that professional but its still nice.

Overview: The main reason I wanted to change my theme because my screen got a crack but its a weird crack, even so its a nice theme that’s exactly what you expect from a theme but you can’t help thinking there are better themes out there. There is one thing that’s wrong with this theme is the white line going across the top that looks like it a bit of an error Read more

Nokia N96 Game Review – TibiaME

screenshot0012Name: TibiaME

Genre: Massive Online Multiplayer.

Summary: I’m going to be honest and say that I have never heard of this game but it looks like its been around for a good while. TibiaME has been out for a while but their is a spring update and since they only update two times a year its quite big. TibiaME is really “WOW” for the Nokia N96 with thousands of online players, 3,000 different screens of map, 35 different creatures to battle and over 100 items to find. The graphics have to be mentioned because it reminds me of “Pokemon” and I thing that’s quite impressive for a phone. Since this game is based online you mite thing that it’s going to cost a lot to play but the surprisingly it only uses about 400kbytes an hour.

Overview: In theory its got lots of potential but once again the nokia n96 lets it down with its lack of Internet stability. The other thing that lets the game down is the size of the screen which I’m sure there’s a version with a higher resolution but the one they say to download only takes up about half the screen. TibiaME has a free version which has lots of gameplay but the premium only cost 3 euros a month and has lots of benefits. If you like the idea then check the free version but the screen is just too small for me to want it Read more

Nokia N96 App Review – Nokia Energy Profiler

screenshot0010

Name: Nokia Energy Profiler

Description: Battery consumption Monitor

Summary: I’m still a little hooked on this new firmware, one thing that the Nokia N96 has always had problems with is the batteryNokia Energy Profiler can measure the consumption of your battery quite precisely which results in seeing which applications require the most battery to operate. Nokia Energy Profiler will also display how much battery time is left. The application itself is designed for application developers so don’t be expecting it to have a nice UI or normal settings. Really this is a pointless Application, unless you concerned about your Battery.

Overview: This is quite an interesting application, it would be nice if anybody who installed this application to post up their average battery consumption and what applications are running, My phone on average uses 0.78w. I will probably be using this application regularly just to find out how much battery an application uses so I mite be referring to this application a bit if I come across any application that uses either a lot or a little battery. If anyone whats this application then there’s nothing stopping you because its free and made by nokia so you know it will work Read more

Nokia N96 App Reveiw – Xclock

May 13, 2009 by
Filed under Nokia, Review, S60, Software, Symbian

screenshot0001Name: Xclock

Description: Alarm Clock Manger,

Summary: I know that the default alarm on the Nokia N96 isn’t a bad one, in fact it seems to do everything that’s possible, or does it? Xclock this will do everything that the original one does like setting a daily alarm or weekly alarm, you can have different tones and text alerts and everything else the original one. Xclock has a few things that you mite not expect like recording a message for it to play to you when your alarm goes off, not only that it also has a countdown timer and a stopwatch which I miss to the Nokia N96Xclock Is a great alarm application and with its little extras make it unique.

Overview: I know that the latest firmware makes it possible play a recording with the alarm but the way that you can record your voice straight from the application so you can record a quick reminder like “take out the bins” or “get milk” so it can be quite handy. The things I don’t like is that you can’t set “workdays” so you have to be a bit clever to make it perfect. The UI is a little confusing and maybe the biggest off worried I have is that it costs $16.69 which quite a cost but I will say that the trial will let you see the benefits of it. Read more

Nokia N96 App Review – My Ringtone

this-is-how-we-do0014

Name: My Ringtone(1.21),

Description: Mobile Mp3/Ringtone editor,

Summary: There is a few mp3 editor applications and even thought you only need one the problem I found was that many of them didn’t work on my Nokia N96. My Ringtone isn’t the first one that worked but it was the first one that worked the way I wanted it to. My Ringtone does exactly what you want an mp3 editor to do, find a song, listen to it, edit it and then save. What is good about My Ringtone is that all the buttons need to edit the mp3 and the split timers really help find the exact place to trim. Visually My Ringtone is quite good it has 5 different themes and a nice visualiser, which I know is pointless for an application that your only going to use one or twice a month but the default theme is really ugly.

Overview: Its my dream that one day nokia will incorporate this in there own operating system as like a slider that adjusts the start point because its something so basic but no one really want their ring tone to start from start. My Ringtone does all that you could want but there is a problem and that is that it’s not free. Its not that expensive only $5 but if that’s too much there is an older version(1.08) that’s free. There is a trial for the latest version which I suggest you try it. Read more
