Name: Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile

Genre: Music/Action

Summary: For some reason the n-gage console feels like its dieing for quite some time so its always a good sign to see new games coming out. Guitar Hero is a very popular platform game and has been ported to devices like the IPhone so it was inevitable for some version would to be released for symbian OS. One of the greatest thing about Guitar Hero is that it uses very simple graphics and its packed the great music so it makes for a great nokia n96 game. The whole point of the game is to press the buttons in rhythm with the song, you can play both guitar and the difficulty can make turn it from a bit of fun to a seriously competitive game.

Overview: So far the reviews for this game are pretty good and there’s no obvious problems or draw backs except that it only uses three buttons. I’m not really a fan of the platform version I guess it has something to do with controllers but since there is only the keypad I think it could be a bit of fun. I really think that this game will be one of these must have games for the nokia n96 Read more

Nokia N96 N-gage Review – Sims3

screenshot0312Name: Sims3

Genre: RPG

Summary: There have been a few sims games out for the nokia n96 but I never played any of them so I can’t compare it to any of them so I’ll compare it to other n-gage games. Before I tested this game I read lots of reviews say how boring and lame this game was so naturally I thought its going to be a bad game. When the game first loads you get to customise your characters and then its traits and then its of to its virtual world and you can get on with life. From the reviews this is where I expected the game to be useless but I was wrong the game has all the available options that you could ever want from buying a new house to listening to music. The main complaint everyone had with Sims3 is that it was boring but if you thing its as boring as any sims game but they still appeal to many people and I can’t see why this one won’t.

Overall: The first thing I should tell you is that the game play is a bit slow but the game runs very smoothly and the graphics are fine. The game is surprisingly small at 2MB and and there’s a great trial that’s about 15mins of game play but can be a bit of trouble to download so I have the .sis file in the download. Overall its a good game and will probably entertain you for a good while but you mite get bored of it quite quick. Read more

Nokia N96 N-gage Review – AMF Bowling

screenshot01541Name: AMF Bowling

Genre:  Sport

Summary: N-gage has been trying to release a bunch of games recently which are all much bigger and seem to have much more detail in certain areas. AMF Bowling is the latest N-gage game for the Nokia N96 and is a relatively big at 17MB at installation. AMF Bowling as a game has its ups and downs, the “ups” are the graphics with lots of detail for the locations and players also it requires a knack to be good at this game split second control means the difference between hitting them and getting a strike. The multiplayer is set to be probably the most competitive N-gage arena game yet. The bad points are the lack of realism in the sense that it appears that no location seems to be in a bowling ally, they all seem to be in abstract places also the game has trouble running smoothly. Another down side is that the single player doesn’t look that great.

Overview: AMF Bowling has gotten lots of mixed reviews so I guess its up to you to decided if you want it. I will say that normally I don’t like bowling games but as far as bowling games go this is one of my favorite one because I couldn’t find a sure way to get a strike. Recently the games have had a very detailed menu and AMF Bowling is the same but the game play graphics still need to improve, I thing soon nokia will come up with a more powerful phones that will have graphics like the “Nintendo DS” but we will have to wait a few years for that. Nokia N96 N-gage Review – Dance Fabulous

Name: Dance Fabulous

Genre: Arcade

Summary: In recent times a lot more  hype is around N-gage games, Dance Fabulous has been hyped about for a good while now and it has now been released ahead of schedule. The very first thing you will notice is the size and this blows away most N-gage games because its 30MB where as most N-gage game don’t go over 5mb. The point of Dance Fabulous is as any Dancing game, basically make you dancer move in the best way. A few things it prides itself on is customization which is almost unlimited, the key that I see to this game is its ability to let you dance along with your own music so your not listening to some crap that’s 10 years old. Dance Fabulous only costs £4/€5 which is very cheap for a game of this size. The graphics and sound effects are perfect giving the game a really quality feel and has been give the highest rating so far in the N-gage arena.

Overview: Lets be honest, not that many people are going to be interested in this game. In a whole the game is very flashy which is nice to see come from nokia but I think unless you ware a skirt then you should pass on this game, if however you like the idea of the game then you really should check it out because it is a good game. To play this game you need the latest version of N-gage(1.20-1459) which you can download from below. If you where thinking of trying out the trial, Don’t because its a waste of time all in all you get about 1 minute of play time and about 30 seconds of that is dancing. I will post a link to a video of the full version in action.

Nokia N96 N-gage Review – Asphalt 4: Elite Racing

screenshot0101

Name: Asphalt 4: Elite Racing

Genre: Driving/Racing

Summary: Asphalt is a long running mobile phone racer and Elite Racing is the second game for N-gage. Asphalt 3 was one of the first racing games out for n-gage then need for speed came along and showed us what was possible on our nokia N96 and Asphalt 4: Elite Racing is now here to show what it can do. If you played Asphalt 3 you will thing this is the same thing in terms of graphics and UI but with new cars and new tracks it seems as if Asphalt 3 got a face lift but really its all the same as the older one. I will say that the roads have more turns and a more open feeling environment. All the same Asphalt 4: Elite Racing has some nice cars an will give you a few hours of game play but not sure its an improvement on the 3rd one.

Overview: This seems like such a waste of time it appears to be Asphalt 3 with new backgrounds so I don’t understand why released anything that’s had this little attention. I’m not saying its a bad game well Asphalt 3 wasn’t a bad game but after playing for a year or two now its a bit boring and its good that they are keeping the game alive but I think they could have improved the game. In the end of the day I still think need for speed is better and in fairness they don’t even give you a proper amount of time to try it out. Read more

Nokia N96 n-gage review – Metal Gear Solid

April 12, 2009 by Patrick Campbell
Filed under Games, N-Gage, Nokia, Review, S60

Name: Metal Gear Solid (MGS)

Genre: Action/Adventure

Summary: There are a lot of Nokia N96 Games and many of them are way too good. I have reviewed a game before called FB Twisted, so, If you don’t like action games, check that other game which is more arcade game for Nokia N96 and not adventure. I have always respected the MGS series but since I never owned a PlayStation I never got to own it and I was delighted when I found out that they where releasing a n-gage version. After hearing about Metal Gear Solid (MGS) I went straight to google and I found out that it had 1/3 of the original game developers which is a lot for a n-gage game and that it was going to be ground breaking. So I was looking forward to playing it allot but when I got it I was so disappointed, I guess I was expecting it too much. If you have ever played any of the MGS series then you will also be disappointed because of the lack of interaction and it seems like a level is just getting passed two or more guards. However and this is a big however anyone who hasn’t played any of the MGS series will find it a great little game, it is quick enough to load and despite all the missing interactions what they left in was pure gold. Things like hide in boxes and in lockers and peeking out is good fun and can be quite challenging.
