Nokia N96 App Review – BatterySaver
Name: BatterySaver
Description: Power Manager
Summary: With all the advances in technology its strange that batteries still don’t have enough charge the nokia n96 for more than a few days. The Lack of battery life in the nokia n96 is one of its biggest problems and for some it would be considered the only problem. BatterySaver is an application that can control your applications, gps, bluetooth, screensaver, backlight and the brightness to save more power and make your battery last longer. BatterySaver watches your battery level so that it can adjust the setting to make save more power when the battery is low. It has different pre set profiles that varies the level of power you save that can be edited to match your style, BatterySaver also has the ability to start at your defined time.
Overview: In theory BatterySaver is a good application in practice its even better all the settings and conditions that you can set are just the settings you want. I guess the only thing I can complain about is that this application isn’t free so that will put off a few people but it only cost £5 so if you battery annoys you that much you can try the demo and see if there’s any improvement. Nokia N96 App Review – BeepTimer

Name: BeepTimer
Description: Regular Alarm
Summary: I feels like its getting to the point where I can no longer find interesting applications so I’m left with the less interesting ones to review but none the less they all deserve there place in the spot light. BeepTimer is an application that lets off a beep every hour, 1/2 hour, 1/4 hour ect… and can be set to turn on and to turn off at the time you decide. As the application can only do one thing you know its not going to be that popular but some mite like it. I think the only people that mite like this application are the people that need to keep a rough idea of the time over a few hours or someone who has to continually check on something.
Overview: I’m not really sure why someone bothered to make this application yes it works fine but just doesn’t have any obvious purpose. BeepTimer is a free application so If you think your need it then its yours, if this isn’t quite the application that you want then but you think this mite do then my advice is to keep looking because there are many timer applications that do a whole lot more Read more
Nokia N96 App Review – Resco Photo Viewer

Name: Resco Photo Viewer
Description: Photo Viewer
Summary: We all use the gallery in our nokia N96 to view and edit photos with a lot of ease and there’s not really any thing that needs to improve. The only problem that anyone can complan about is the speed or lack of which brings me to Resco Photo Viewer. Resco Photo Viewer is great for viewing your photos because it uses thumbnails so it can show you many more pictures and can load them all faster, you can also customize your view to the most suited view. With the pre-installed gallery you can send your pic to the web or through blue-tooth which is also available in Resco Photo Viewer so really its exactly the same but faster.
Overview: Because Resco Photo Viewer has to use thumbnails it uses more space on your memory card but it isn’t that large but is just another thing to watch out for. Resco Photo Viewer cost $14.95 but does have a 14 trial which lets you have a good go of the software but unless you use your gallery more than often then you need Resco Photo Viewer to do it in a sort of reasonable time. Nokia N96 App Review – Privus
July 28, 2009 by Patrick Campbell
Filed under Applications, Nokia, Review, S60, Software
Name: Privus Mobile
Description: Caller Id
Summary: Most people are happy with the the caller Id already on your nokia n96 but the truth is that you don’t have a caller Id, all you have is a contact recognition which will never show information the name of who’s calling. Privus is an application that can find out the name of the person that’s calling you, Privus has been around for a little while but has only recently been made for symbian. On other operating system it will tell you who’s calling but on the nokia N96 it will get you the name when you connect a to wifi. The application works well but requires a restart to completely install the application but can auto start from then on. To use this service you have to subscribe to Privus and pay for a month of use.
Overview: Privus is really only for business men that need to know who’s calling them but If you do want Privus it is going to cost you $5.99 a month or $59.95 for a year but does have a 10 day trial. Really I don’t think Privus is worth the cost but if you need to know then you don’t have much of a choice. You have to register at Privus for the application to work but that’s very quick. Read more
Nokia N96 App Review – VoxTrack

Name: VoxTrack
Description: Conversion Recorder
Summary: I’m not going to pretend that there isn’t many call recorders out for the nokia N96, when in fact there’s almost a new one every-week. VoxTrack isn’t actual new it was formally called “XELNEX LITE” but from what I know xelnex a few problems and the quality wasn’t that great. Now with VoxTrack all is well again the quality and the application are both just fine. With that said you are left with the choice of what voice recorder to buy all really do the same thing the only difference between them is the quality of the recording. VoxTrack it has to be said has one of the best quality recording and VoxTrack has loads of settings that enable it to work just the way you want, settings like deleting the recordings after a pre-defined time and automatic recording. It does seem to stand out from the crowed but most of them work just as good.
Overview: Some people want to have a decent call recorder and VoxTrack is pretty decent but two things worry me that are first, its cost which is £12.88 and second, is that I think this slows down the phone noticeably when in it’s recording a call. Depending on how often you use your phone while on a call should help you chose if this is right for you but there is a trial so you can check out how it works for yourself. Read more
Nokia N96 App Review – Daddy’s Eye

Name: Daddy’s Eye
Description: Call Monitor
Summary: Many applications for your nokia N96 will only be useful to certain people and others will be useful to everyone. Daddy’s Eye is only really for certain people but still that gtoug of certain people is quite large. Daddy’s Eye records any incoming or outgoing calls or Sms and can then send them to your email or to a http server. There are many application that can do this but what Daddy’s Eye is designed to do is recored all this info without the user knowing and the application can completely hide itself and also has a password to protect the settings. So really Daddy’s Eye is for keeping an eye on someones call activity but with the cost of it they would want to be someone important to you.
Overview: I can definitely see the point of this application and I think most people at sometime or another in their lives will want this application. The thing I don’t get is the cost which is $35 but there is a trial so you can check out how is works. I really shouldn’t say this but it was easier to find a cracked version of Daddy’s Eye than any official download-able one so maybe the creators will notice this and do something that. Read more
Nokia N96 App Review – Mr Expense

Name: Mr Expense
Description: Expense Tracker
Summary: At the moment with this recession going on it seems wise to try and stretch out your budget by optimising your expenditure. There is loads of software to do this on your PC but how often do you buy little things that you mite forget. This is where Mr Expense comes in, Mr Expense is any application designed to help you keep track of your money. It dose this by creating a log that you have to update when your buy anything and keeps an note of when, how, the cost and what you purchased and when you have filled in your purchases Mr Expense will work out the total and then give you a report on what you spent your money on. Mr Expense is basically a database for your nokia n96 and with all the customizable settings its a pretty good one at that.
Overview: I understand that some people deal with larger amounts of money on a daily basis but I can’t understand how someone would forget what they spent any size able money they spent during the week. So when I first started it I thought it was going to be useless and rubbish but I was mistaken because this application is so good it’s necessary. Unfortunately necessity comes at a price of $9.99 which is fair enough but if you are really hit by the recession then I doubt that you will spend your money on this but there is a 7 day trial below so check that out. Nokia N96 App Review – VoiceQ
Name: VoiceQ
Description: Voice Recorder
Summary: First I know that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the pre-installed voice recorder for the nokia n96 so that’s not the reason I’m posting this. VoiceQ is bit more than a voice recorder not much but a bit, as far a features go it hasn’t really got a lot going on but that’s just key to its greatness. Something about this application makes it the most user-friendly and simple applications ever. That something is the combination of its simple interface, few settings and simple instructions. VoiceQ isn’t just a pretty face what it is designed to do is recorded your thoughts and notes and send them to an email address or to save them on your nokia n96. When I said there’s nothing wrong with the pre-installed voice recorder but this one is so smooth and easy to use, it really dose make for a good application.
Overview: It would be a lie to call this a useless application but it mite be a lie to say that you would use it to its full extent and the only problem with that is that this isn’t a free application. However the cost is so little, it’s only $5.95 which is nothing for an application this well made, if the cost throws you off then you should have a look at the trial so you can see for yourself how simple applications can be. Nokia N96 App Review – DrawSMS
July 4, 2009 by Patrick Campbell
Filed under Nokia, Review, S60, Symbian

Name: DrawSMS
Description: SmS Editor
Summary: Well so far I have seen a few application on the nokia n96 for editing sms but most of them all about putting in smiles and stuff like that. DrawSMS takes a different route what DrawSMS can do is create an SmS and it lets you draw what ever you want or insert text or insert a template. With all the different tools you can use you can make anything, really its more of a paint application for you nokia n96 which you can send via SmS or just save to your gallery. The other thing I like about this is that you can insert different styles of text which is quite creative but still DrawSMS feels very useless.
Overview: I don’t really get this application Whether its really meant to be use on this phone I’m not sure but it sure does have a very small input screen so it can be very hard to use. another thing is the price, $11 is what it costs and your really don’t get much application for your money. There is a trial that’s worth looking at but I don’t see anyone wanting DrawSMS but some mite love it. Read more
Nokia N96 App Review – PowerMovie
July 3, 2009 by Patrick Campbell

Name: PowerMovie
Description: Media Player
Summary: I know myself that the real player that’s pre-installed on the nokia N96 has its problems but overall it works quite well but that doesn’t mean that there’s isn’t anything better. PowerMovie is a new video player for your n96 that supports AVI(DivX, XVid) and MP4 codecs and a few other handy things like being able to rotate the screen 270° and being able to chose a start time. What I do like about this application is how intuitive it is and how easily it changes clips and another little touch that I like is the ability to change the brightness, contrast and saturation. PowerMovie will also scan you phone for video clips, the search isn’t the best I’ve seen as it missed a few but it was quicker than what I expected.
Overview: There’s good news and bad news with this application first the bad news and that is that it costs $20.00 which is a lot for an application that doesn’t have anything new. The good news i that it does have a 15 day trial so you can see how good it is but there’s still no reason for the cost but ignoring the cost its a pretty good application and a good bit better that the pre-installed real player.
