Nokia has confirmed that the Nokia N96 has started shipping, and by that, it means that we are closer and closer to the release date.
As you should know, if you visit our N96 specifications or features page, the phone will have a 5 megapixel camera with Dual LED flash, autofocus, video recording in DVD quality, and a Carl Zeiss optics lens. A 16GB internal memory is bundled with support of a microSD memory card, which could add up to 24GB and in future, 32GB! With the available 16GB memory, you can store up to 40 hours of video.
The video played back can be of MPEG4 format, Flash Video, and Windows Media Video.
You can listen to music through its 3D stereo speakers or connect your speakers, or headphones through its 3.5mm audio jack, or through Bluetooth. There is also Internet Radio, Visual Radio, and whole podcast directory.
The N96 will have a A-GPS receiver, and will feature geo-tagging capabilities, which will be just fantastic with the excellent camera. If you haven’t tried geotagging, you should with a phone such as the Nokia N78 or the N82, which will display where the picture was exactly taken on the Maps application.
The phone will also support DVB-h, but the mobile TV technology isn’t available yet in most countries, and in UK, it will only be available by 2012, as you can read in this Nokia N96 Review.
As the N96 has a huge 2.8″ display with QVGA resolution (240×320 pixels), and very loud 3D stereo speakers it will come with an included movie, and for the South Africa version, it will be Transformers. You can further enjoy this by placing the N96 on a table, supported by its own kickstand.
On the connectivity side, the N96 has WLAN, HSDPA, Bluetooth, and USB 2.0.
In a press release issued today, Jonas Geust, Vice President, Nokia Nseries said that “The Nokia N96 is mobile entertainment at its best, a fitting flagship for our Nseries range. It defines convergence by blending phone and multimedia options seamlessly with the unique Nokia Nseries dual slider that makes discovering and sharing experiences easy. Watch live TV and video, take high quality photos and geotag them to specific locations or directly upload them online via the fast internet connection – it is all about taking mobile entertainment and communication to the next level.”
The price will be of 750 Euros without subsidies or taxes, and we’ve noticed that there are plenty of websites offering the Nokia N96, between other mobile phone deals, and on this particular website, you can compare mobile phone prices, and even post your own reviews, or just read the ones written by the editor.

One more speculative release date. Networks confirm this as a date, but something might change plans (we hope not).
According to Nokia N96 Unnofficial Blog, 3, Carphone Warehouse, Orange, Phones4U, T-Mobile and Vodafone will offer the Nokia N96 at 430 British Pounds. As you can see, we only have confirmation from the UK. We are still awaiting release dates and prices from all around the world.
In case you want to get the N96 before anyone else, you will have to help Nokia and WWF to save the red pandas. I will explain this in a future post.

3, UK network, announces N96 release date for September

Pricing and Release date (or month) were announced at last night’s event hosted by 3 as a preview of their fall line. Thanks to them we can now estimate the release date in other countries as well.
So after all, our announcement of a shipping date didn’t fall too far from there, it makes sense if the N96 is going to start shipping in the first week of August if it’s going to be available by September.
The price should round 15 British Pounds per month for a contract.

Nokia N96 to launched in UK soon!

Our loved Nokia N96 is coming to a true launch, as our last post points out. Carphone Warehouse is unsure whether they will have it on August or October, but some of our other sources point out that it is going to be this August, and that’s less than 3 weeks away, most probably to head off against the Apple iPhone 3G.
It was Henri Mattila who confirmed that the Nokia N96 would start shipping in the first week of August, and soon more blogs followed releasing their own sources. There were previous dates of launch that pointed out everything from May to July.
The N96 beats the iPhone 3G by far, as you can see in our table of comparisons published in a recent post. The best in this series so far is the HTC Touch Diamond in some criteria, and that too due to specifications comparison. We are quite confident that the N96 will be the best smartphone between these phones thanks to the expertise that Nokia has in releasing advanced flagship Symbian devices.
Many bloggers, including me, are somehow disappointed for the fact that the N96 will not have more features than the ones it already has, but as pointed out by Nick, there are many improvements such as the DVB-h mobile TV receiver, Dual LED flash, large display, 16GB internal memory, Symbian S60 3.2 release with Feature Pack 2, the navi-wheel and built-in geotagging. Kathryn has also spoken about the extensive advantages of the N96, and it is difficult to just be disappointed with the N96. You can’t always be one-sided, now can you? Optimism people!

N96 at Carphone Warehouse on August or October?

The Carphone Warehouse had leaked that the N96 was going to be here in August. Now it changes that date to October, but leaves a page with the N96“>date August. This is confusing, but according to our sources, the N96 will start shipping the first week of August, so it’s more probable that it will be here, and most part of the world in October. Don’t forget to pre-order your N96!
Thanks, Spunk
