Name: Handywi
Description: Wifi Connection Manager
Summary: “no gateway reply” words that I hate, words that I see nearly every time I use the Internet on my phone. Normally I would just refresh the system but I wanted something with a more stable connection for the nokia N96, this is what I came up with. Handywi is exactly what you thing it is, it can find all the near by wifi connections and helps you connect and so far has not shown me any error messages. Handywi has another side to it, when your in a location that you like you can use Handywi to record your location and then you can upload them to your list of Landmarks and then you can view them on your map. I think Handywi is a must have application if you have any problems using wifi.
Overview: I was kind of expecting something a little better from this application it give you a more stable connection but I think that it makes the Internet slower which is really annoying. Handywi is free but its just not what I exactly wanted but I will keep it on my phone just for the times that the Internet is acting up. If you are going to use Handywi then note that the connection it uses is stored in the uncategorized section when connecting to wifi. Read more
Nokia N96 App Review – WorldMate

Name: WorldMate
Description: Travel Itinerary
Summary: If you are traveling, whether it is to work or different or even across the border there’s some information that’s handy to have. This is where WorldMate comes in, WorldMate is Collection of excellent applications all in one place that updates automatically giving you the latest times, weather forecast, directions, flight information and the latest currency rates. All this seems only useful if you are traveling across countries, but my favourite part of this application mite change that. Weather forecasts are great but the only problem is that they can manly be found on newspapers, radio and TV which makes them a bit out of the way, WorldMate brings this straight to your Nokia N96 but instead of showing you the forecast it tells it to you. WorldMate can make these reports twice a day at your chosen time and your chosen days so you could wake up to the nice lady telling you the weather without doing anything.
Overview: Believe it or not this application is free but has limited abilities compared to the gold version, but you would have to be Serious about your business travel to get that because it costs $30 a year. Personally I only have the application for the weather forecast but for anyone that travels a lot this could be your next best friend. Another thing That I noticed is the speed of update which is very smooth and had a very stable connection. Read more
Nokia N96 App Review – Power Mp3

Name: power mp3
Description: Mp3 Player
Summary: I posted a previous version of this application a while back but then it didn’t have an equalizer now however it does so it makes for a perfect Mp3 player for your Nokia N96. If you have use Power Mp3 before you will know its based on the original media player but it has a few things that that’s not included in the original one. The first addition this has is the use of short cuts using the numeral keypad, Power Mp3 also has a mood setting that you can define for each song and rate it as well. Other things that Power Mp3 has is a preamp, bass boost, loudness and stereo widening. Another feature of Power Mp3 is the skins and themes that you can apply that gives Power Mp3 nice interface.
Overall: I know its hard to change media players and even though this mp3 player is better bit quite a distance but I just can see it actually replacing the original one. What I will tell you is that this is a beta at the moment so you can download it for free but I think when the full version is out it will probably cost a few quid so it is really worth downloading. Nokia N96 App Review – UCWEB

Name: UCWEB
Description: Mobile Web Browser
Overview: I know many people would be inclined just stick with the original pre-installed one but don’t I would recommend either UCWEB or Skyfire both of these are faster and easier to use over any other web browser. I have a good mind to say that that UCWEB is better than Skyfire but I haven’t been using it long enough to pass a full judgement but its a real winner. To top it of its free so you’ll have to be crazy not to download. Read more
Nokia N96 App Review – Cute Keys
Name: Cute Keys(1.1)
Description: Shortcut Creator
Summary: All of us who have a Nokia N96 are always on a quest to make their Symbian Masterpiece faster and more reliable, most of use have realised that its going to take a good firmware update to increase performance. Lets however think of it this way, instead of increasing performance decrease usage by cutting out all the menus. Cute Keys is an application for the N96 that creates shortcut to application, contacts, sms, mms, documents, e-mail, websites and even blue-tooth. With the any application you can set a personal shortcut using keys from 0-9, *, #, the directional pad and even the camera button. When creating the shortcut you get to chose in what order you press each button, you can only use 1 a number once per shortcut but I’m sure people will get great use out of this.
Overview: With all the time this application saves you by cutting out the menus is quite a lot. The shear amount of shortcuts you can do is staggering almost limitless. The only place this application fails in is when you want to create shortcuts to things like “select all”, “copy”, “paste”and general symbols but that would probably be asking too much. If you have a good memory and not much time then this is your application if your the other way around then try with only a few shortcuts but it probably wont appeal to you as much. Cute Keys cost $9.99, but there is a trial that I recommended you check out to see what your missing. Read more
Nokia N96 App Review – Metro
April 24, 2009 by Patrick Campbell
Filed under Applications, Nokia, Review, S60, Software
Name: Metro
Description: Tourist Travel Information
Summary: Travelling to different cities can have its problems and one of the biggest problems is finding your way to different places of interest or even your hotel. Metro takes care of this problem by providing information about public transport systems and not just in one or two cites but 400. With its latest update (5.76) it is now working on the Nokia N96 plus and with the few bugs fixed it works great. Metro has a very simple interface where you input your location, destination, day and time and with this information it will find you the fastest route and the easiest route. To access this information it uses the web so its more of a widget like the BBC iplayer. One of the features is that it stores the places that you have been which makes it very fast and easy to use, even if you dont need it now.
Overview: I don’t know if its my phone or what but can’t for the life of me change the city so if you want to go to a different city you have to reinstall the application which just isn’t right. On the plus side this would help anyone a lot if they couldn’t speak the language so I think it could be quite important for a few people. So really I think it has great potential and is a valuable tool for your phone and since its free its always something that will get plenty of use. Read more
Nokia N96 app review – ArcSoft Mobile Video Editor

Name: ArcSoft Mobile Video Editor
Description: Mobile Video Editor
Summary: Arcsoft are a pretty big company that mainly deals with media and that kind of stuff so when they released a mobile video editor you know its going to be good. I know sony erricsons have already have a video editor pre-installed and I always thought that it was one thing nokias lacked in, well no more. This video editor is one heck of a tool supporting MPEG-4, H.263, H.264, AAC, MP3, AMR, and QCELP codes. With this app you can cut videos to desired length, remove sound clips from videos and insert your own audio file. If your thinking that all it can do you’ll be mistaken because this can also convert images into videos with all manner of transition. In essence you can basically create a big slideshow or story out of any image or video and you can even add effects like sepia, blue, green ect.. as well as background colours and text clips. I know it sound like a lot to handle on a phone but it works exactly like any other video editor for the pc and is so simple to use.

Overview: I am amazed with ease and quality of the application, while using the app you feel like there’s nothing more you can want from a video application and it works more fluently than so many other apps if you dont give it a try you’ll be missing out on something seriously good even if you never thought you’ll need it. Let say that this should be added to the list of apps that you first install when you first get your phone. The weird thing is that Arcsoft themselves dont seem to be selling the application on there own website and all my sourses seem to suggested that this app is free but I just can’t confirm this no matter where I look so for now I will give a link to download but if anyone knows any more about the copyright of this app please let me know.
The file is unsinged so you will have to sign it befor use

S60 3rd edition Feature Pack 2 fully reviewed!

Eldar Murtazin from Mobile-Review has had his mega-review of the S60 3rd edition Feature Pack 2, part of Symbian OS9.3, translated. For those of us who didn’t understand the original review, we can now enjoy the English words that so well describe the upcoming platform. Eldar used a Nokia N78 to derive screenshots and opinions. Surely the model must have been a test prototype, so we can expect changes on the release firmware.
The pictures I had posted on a past article, you can read the text here, but if you prefer to check the full review, please head over to the source.
